Sometime I think that why the hell I love this country, whats there in this country that binds me to its soil. Well the answer to this is the unique faith, beliefs which exist in the heart of every individual. Be it any religion, here people are living on beliefs, be it Hinduism, Islamic or any other. Most importantly the uniqueness in the "prasad" they offer to their lord.
I was reading an article in which there is an unknown shrine on GT Highway, on the stretch from Ambala to Shahbad Markanda in Haryana. It is the dargah of "nau gaja peer" Its the shrine of Syed Ibrahim Badshah, a saint who is believed to ensure safe journeys and completion of all works in time. There the devotees offer 'clocks' to the saint.
Then there is a temple in the Merta District of Rajasthan, a temple of goddess known as "Bhavaal Maata", here the goddess consumes liquor and that too 2.5 pegs from the silver cup which is offer to her by the Temple's Priest on behalf of the devotee.
At Karni Mata in Bikaner, locating 'white rat' is lucky and the seeing of 'snake' on Shiv Ling is considered very lucky by Hindus. There was the time when the statue of Ganesh Bhagwaan used to drink milk. You hear the stories from the priest of Mathura that everyday he changes the bedsheet for Krishna Bhagwaan who comes there every night to rest. There is a Temple near Nimach known as "Bhaadva Maata", the water from the temple acts as a Nectar for the patients of paralysis.
It is said that below every shrine of muslim saint there is a shiv ling and every morning the Maulwis of the dargah do the Pujas.
I love this land because no matter what is true or untrue, there is a faith and belief amongst people here which is there since centuries and is sincere by heart.
